Step1. Greeting
T: Class begins.
S1: Stand up.
T: Good morning, boys and girls.
Ss: Good morning, Miss Shen.
T: Sit down, please.
Step2. Revision
1. Play a game: What's in my hand?
2. Teacher shows the word cards, the students guess and say out the words quickly.
Review the words they have learned, especilly the vehicles: a bus, a car, a taxi, a bike.
3. Students look and read the word with rising tongue and falling tongue.
4. Students look at the pictures, point at the pictures and say:
This is a …
5. Say a chant
A bus, a bus, this is a bus.
A car, a car, this is a car.
A taxi, a taxi, this is a taxi.
A bike, a bike, this is a bike.
Step3. Presentation
1. Review the sentence structure: Is this…? Yes, it is.
Show a banana, ask: Is this a banana?
Lead the students to remind and answer: Yes, it is.
Ask some pairs.
Show a taxi,ask: Is this a taxi?
Lead the students to answer: Yes, it is.
Ask some pairs.
2. Learn the sentence ‘Is that a …?’
a. Teacher shows a part of a picture of a car and ask ‘Is that a taxi?’ then repeat.
Pay attention to the word: “that”. Let them know the Chinese meaning.
Ask some students to read the sentence. Then write it on the blackboard.
b. Students try to ask with this sentence one by one.
c. Teacher shows the sentence ‘Is that a taxi?’ on the blackboard.
Students try to read it, and guess the Chinese meaning.
d. Let the students to know the difference between “this” and “that”.
3. Learn the sentence ‘No, it isn’t.’
a. Teacher points to the picture of the car again, and ask ‘Is that a taxi?’ Then help Ss to answer ‘No, it isn’t.’ and repeat the sentence several times.
Pay attention to the word: “isn’t”. Let them know the Chinese meaning.
Ask some students to read the sentence. Then write it on the blackboard.
b. Students try to answer the question with the sentence one by one.
c. Teacher shows the sentence ‘No, it isn’t.’ on the blackboard.
Students try to read it, and guess the Chinese meaning.
Step4. Practice
1. Practice the reading.
a. Listen to the tape, let students imitate and read the dialogue. (Point to the sentences by their fingers.)
Read:Helen: Is that a taxi?’
Dad: No, it isn’t.
b. Read the dialogue by themselves.
c. Choose some students to read.
d. Let students read together.
e. Read in roles.
2. Ask and answer
a. Teacher shows some pictures, but these pictures were presented only part, then ask and answer with students.
T: Is that a bus/ a car/ a taxi/ a bike?
S: Yes, it is./ No, it isn't.
b. Students ask and answer in groups with the pictures of the traffic tools.
Boys ask, girls answer.
c. Encourage some groups to come to the front to perform.
Step5. Consolidation
1. Play a game: Guessing game
Teacher shows the pictures, but the pictures are back toward the students. Then let students guess.
S: Is that a bus?
T: No, it isn't.
S: Is that a bike?
T: Yes, it is.
2. Ask some students come to the blackboard to play this game.
3. Say a chant
Taxi, taxi, is that a taxi?
No, no, it isn't a taxi.
Ask some students try to make some new chants with the other words.
Step6. Homework
1. Listen, imitate and read the dialogue for at least five times.
2. Use the sentence structures to ask and answer with their friends or parents.
