名词 fruit 的可数性问题
fruit表示“水果”时，既可以是可数的，也可以是不可数的，其区分原则是：
1. 用作物质名词，泛指一般意义的水果，不可数。如：
Fruit is cheapest in season. 水果在上市季节最便宜。
Fruit quickly goes rotten in hot weather. 天热水果很快会腐烂。
Eat more fruit—it will do you good. 多吃水果，这对你有好处。
2. 若表示水果的种类，则为可数名词。如：
The mango is a tropical fruit. 芒果是种热带水果。
The potato is a vegetable, not a fruit. 土豆是一种蔬菜，不是水果。
对于fruit是否含有“种类”之意，有时需要看具体的语境。比较：

Apple, pears, and oranges are some common types of fruit. 苹果、梨和橘子是一些常见的水果种类。

fruit是不可数名字！只能用was.fruits 是深层次的 小学阶段不可能这样说的 用了fruits 那才应该是were。 ...

应该要分情况的吧，种类多的情况下是复数形式，所以用were，其他的则用was
用was吧，不可数名词
was
