Unit 7 P88有个词 pair，求这个词的用法

网上搜到的有这两种 the pair of shoes is cheap,,                    the pair of shoes are cheap..
      这两个都有用的，到底哪个正确？

pair 的用单数，，没有pair 的用复数

The pair of shoes 是一双鞋的意思，这里主要是看of 之前的pair ，所以应该是单数
