一、自主学习（分个人自主学习、小组内互助、组际互助三步）
用and, but 或or来连接两个简单句。
(1)Mike is short . He is strong.

二、重、难点讲解
1. I planned to go to see the final but didn’t go in the end .
我原计划去看决赛，但最后没去。
(1).plan意为“计划，打算，设计”，常接动词不定式表示“计划做某事”。它也可用作名词，意为“计划，打算，方法” 。如：
  We’re planning to have a New Year Party.
  我们在计划举行一个新年聚会。
Do you have any plan for this term?
  这学期你有什么打算吗？
(2) in the end 相当于at last或finally.，意为“最后；最终”
注意比较： in the end 和at the end of
Sandy sang a beautiful song _________________(在演出的结尾)。
The policeman caught the thief _________________(最后)
2. I decided to stay at home and pack my bags instead.
  我决定呆在家里整理我的行李。
(1).pack是动词，意为“捆扎，打包，装箱”，它还有“挤满，塞满”等意思。如：
She packed her bags and left.她打好行李就动身了。
The people packed into the train.  人们挤进火车。
(2). instead 是副词，意为“代替，反而，而，如：
He is tired, let me go instead.
他累了，让我替他去吧。
She never studies.Instead,she plays computer games all day.
她从不学习。而是整天玩电脑游戏。
注意 instead 和instead of的区别：
Instead单独位于句首或句末；instead of 用于名词、代词或介词短语前。
3. Our team played badly at first.开始的时候我们的队打得很糟。
at first 最初，开始的时候
At first it was very hot, but then it got cooler.
一开始天挺热，但后来变凉了。
