④Doyou have a telephone at home?
⑤Canyou make telephone calls? → (Bb: a telephone call)
⑥Canwe make telephone calls in class? (Ss: No, we can’t.)
→ T: We can’tmake telephone calls in class. But today we can. Why? Because we are learninghow to make telephone calls in English today.
2. Go through thelearning aims:
T: Look, these are our learning aims fortoday. Now read the aims by yourselves.
3. Let’s talk:
①Good,we are happy today. Look at the picture. Are the children happy too? → Yes,they are in the happy land. They enjoy playing there.
→Oh, wait.Someone is missing. Who are not here?

②A telephone call to Miss Li:

II. While-story tasks:
Task 1. Listen andchoose.
Ss listen to the first telephone call andchoose to answers. T helps explain the new words: cough, headache, cold, fever.
①Can Yang Ling come to school today?
②What’s the matter with Yang Ling? (Bb: What’s thematter?)
Bb: I have a … (cough, headache, cold,fever.)
Task 2. Think and say:
T: Yang Ling has a cold and a fever. What canshe do? Do you have any suggestions(建议)?

→If we are ill, we can go to thehospital and see a doctor. I can introduce you a nice doctor: Doctor Wu. (Say arhyme)
Task 3. Watch andanswer:

T: Yang Ling is ill. She has a cold anda fever . She can’t come to school today. Miss Li calls her andshe is fine now. Her classmates care about her and they make telephonecalls.

Ss look at the pictures of the apples with aletter and say what illness it is.
