J.K.Rowling was born in 1965 in England, and started writing when she was 5 or 6 years old. Her first “book” — a story about a rabbit called “Rabbit” — was filled with interesting characters, such as a large bee called “Miss Bee.”
Rowling’s family moved twice while she was growing up. At one of their homes, she had friends next door whose last name was Potter. Rowling never forgot the children, or the last name, which she liked very much.
At the age of 27, divorced, living in a tiny flat with her baby daughter, Rowling started to write Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone(《哈里·波特与魔法石》) at a table in a cafe during her daughter’s naps(小睡).
It was Harry Potter that rescued Rowling. To her amazement, and joy, she became a household name when the first 3 books of the Harry Potter series became the New York Times’ top 3 bestsellers! Rowling is no longer a poor mother, but a “magic mother” admired by the world! |
