Unit 7   At Christmas

Teaching Content:  
Fun with English 6A   the second period of Unit 7

Teaching Aims:
1.        Enable the students to master the new words: mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs.
2.        Enable the students to master the sentence structures: Whose… is it/are they? It’s/ They’re … Who is it/ are they from? It’s/They’re from…
3.        Enable the students to communicate with each other using the following sentences: This one is from … Open it for me, please. You’re welcome.
4.        Enable the students to understand the different customs between Chinese people and western country people when they give or accept presents.

Teaching Importance and Difficulties
1.        Enable the students to grasp the usage of the possessive pronouns
2.        Apply the sentence structure to the real situation

Step 1  Warming up
1.        Free talk
2.        Give the cards to the students and review the words: mirror, hairdryer…

Step 2  Presentation
1. Part one
  a.Read the first part carefully and answer the questions
Q1:Where were Jim’s family?
Q2:What did they do after lunch?
Q3:Who was very excited?
(Reading tip:)
  b. Work in pairs and find some other message.
  c. Ask and answer.

2.Dialogue one
  a. Divide the dialogue into two parts. The first part is from “There are ” to “and the teapot is very beautiful”.
  b.Read Dialogue one and complete the blanks.(Reading tip)

1.        Try to read the sentences correctly.
2.        Read the dialogue together
3.        Complete the letter and retell the text.

Step 4 Consolidation
1.        Introduce some customs of Western Christmas
2.        Write a Christmas card to a friend
3.        Give Christmas presents to friends
4.        Sing a song: We wish you a merry Christmas!

Step 6  Homework
