Part 1. Analysis of students and textbook:
My students are in Grade two. Most of them have learned English for one year, so they are eager to learn and have been interested in English.
Part 2. Teaching objectives
Today I’m going to talk about unit 3, from Oxford English for primary school, Book2B.The content today I’m going to talk about includes two parts: Part A Learn to say Part B Look and learn. The teaching objectives of this lesson includes:
1.Knowledge objectives
(1) Ss are required to master the words :moon,sun,star,bright.
(2) To enable Ss to understand and learn the structures “Look at the… Oh,it’s bright.” Make sure that Ss can use these sentences freely and fluently.
(3) To help Ss to know the Celestial bodies.
2. Skill objectives
(1) To develop Ss three skills, listening, speaking and reading.
(2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.
(3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication.
3. Emotional objectives
From this lesson,I hope Ss can be interested in the universe.
Part 3. Key-points and difficult points of this lesson
To help the Ss communicate with the setence“Look at the… Oh,it’s bright.” and make sure they can say the new words correctly.
Part 4. Teaching methods
That is to say, I will arrange some activities and let Ss learn knowledge and finish a task by making a real institution to help the Ss get a better understanding.
Part 5. Teaching procedures
I’ll finish this lesson in four steps.
Step1.warm--up
The topic of this Unit is ‘Look at the moon’ At the beginning of the lesson, I will greet with Ss. Some structures that Ss have learned before will be used here, such as “Hello,…”Later I let them look at the screem and say the shyme“A star”. This way is to attract their interests and review the word“star” about the Celestial bodys. And this way can help me lead in the new content.
Step2. presentation
I prepared 3 activities in this stage.
Firstly, learn the words and the sentence
With the help of courseware, I’ll show a picture of sky. Su Yang and Su Hai are watching the sky, I put the question ‘What’in the sky?’ Following this question, Ss will see a bright star. They will answer me:It’s a star.And I will introduce the star is bright,Ss can listen to the song 一闪一闪亮晶晶to feel the word.Then Ss learn the word.and I will teach the two words us a chant:a star,a star,brght,bright.
After the word“star”,I will show a table:In Mid-autumn festavil,what should we do,Ss discuss in group,at last each group communicates the task.When Ss involve the “moon”,I will show a big round and bright moon.And teach Ss the word.Then I will show a dark moon next to the bright moon.then I point to the bright moon,say slowly:Look at the moon!Oh,it’s bright.Ss point to the bright moon,and read the sentence with the tape: Look at the moon!Then I invite Ss express the sentence,at this time,I will answer: Oh,it’s bright.then Ss practise the sentences in pairs.
Then I will show a riddle:It raises in the east in the morning.In rainy day,it will not appear.Ss can gusee out quitly.After Ss learn the sun,I will show a bright sun.I will say :Look at the sun!And guide Ss say : Oh,it’s bright.Then invit Ss come front and act the sentence.
Ss read the words and partA with me.and they play a game.Boy is sun,girl is moon,and all of the Ss are stars. when I say sun, the boys stand up and say“I’m sun”; when I say the moon, the girls stand up and say“I’m moon” ; when I say the star, everyone just sit down.
After the game,The ‘task-based’ teaching method will be used here. I will design a table which has two lines. One is for words and the other is for pictures. Match the words and the pictures.
The aim of this step is to consolidate the new words. Here, Ss can help each other and they’ll be very proud after finishing the task.
According to the task-based English teaching approach, the meaningful drill is very necessary in class. This is really a good way to develop their ability to use the language of EN. So I always create a life-like language environment for them.
When finish the exercise, the group work will begin.I will divide Ss to five or six groups,and each group can choose one word card.and everyone in the group should say:Look at the …,and the others should say Oh,it’s bright.when the last one finish,he must communicate with me.Who’s the first,the group win.The practice here can help Ss master the structures.
Step 3 Post-task activities
In this stage, I will do the exercise. Listen and tick. Ask Ss listen to the tape, then circle the true picture .
Step4 Homework
Homework for the Ss is to interview their parents’ about the animals. This job sets up a real environment for the Ss’ to use English. So the Ss will be always confident to learn, be eager to learn, and be happy to learn.
