Step1. Pre-checking
check the pronounce of the new word.
check the new phrases.

Step2. Pre-task
Talk about Daniel and Simon’s history project.
We have learnt something about Sunshine Town. It has changed a lot.
Today, we will go to visit Starlight Town.
Show the pictures, let Ss say something about Starlight Town.
Compare the two pictures in P18 A1
T: What can you see in the picture on the left?
Ss: I can see some trees and an old house. Ss: I can see some wild birds and ducks.
T: Where is it?
Ss: Maybe it is a small lake or small villages..
T: What do you think of it?
Ss: It is very poor but very beautiful.
T: What kinds of wildlife live there?
Ss: Wild ducks and birds etc.
T: What can you see in the picture on the right?
Ss: I can see many tall buildings.
3. Describe the pictures.
In the past, my hometown was Now, it has become a
natural and beautiful. There were modern town. There is a
lakes, a lot of wildlife and small new railway station and
villages. some new highways

Task 1: Listen and complete the lists.
There have been many changes in Starlight Town. Do you want to know more about the changes? Let’s listen to the recording and finish the table on P18
1. Play the tape for the students to listen and complete the lists.
2. Play the tape again and check the answers with the students.
Task 2 : Drill
Ask the students to talk about Starlight Town in the past and now in a few words according to the lists.
Work in pairs, ask and answer
In Starlight Town, what did people have in the past?
Was there any wildlife?
How did people get there?
Where did people live?
What changes have taken place in this town?
Task 3 : Present part A2
Simon is writing about Starlight Town in his diary. Help him complete his diary entry on page 19. First read the words on page 15. Then fill in the blanks on page 16.
1. Check the answers with the students.
2. Let the students read the diary by Simon.
Task 4: Find out some key sentences in the diary and explain them. Finally write them on the blackboard:
① lend sth. to sb. = lend sb. sth.

=This place has changed a lot.
=Great changes have taken place in Hong Kong.
