Unit9 Merry Christmas
The first period (Part B)
Teaching aims:
1. WORDS: Can listen, speak and understand the words: a gift, a bell, a chocolate, a sweet.
2. STRUCTURES: Can listen, speak and understand the sentence: The … is for you. Thank you.
3. FUNCTION: Can use English to give presents to each other correctly.
Teaching importance:  
Can listen, speak and understand the words and the sentences correctly.
Teaching difficulties:
Can listen, speak and understand the words and the sentences correctly.
Teaching preparation:
CAI, some pictures, some chocolates and some sweets.
Teaching procedure:
Step1 Pre-task Preparation
1. Greetings.
2. Sing songs and say rhymes
Sing songs:《My family》《At the market》
PURPOSE:Warm up and adjust the atmosphere, let Ss come into English world.
3. Free talk
T: How are you?
S: I’m fine, thank you.
T: Who’s he/she?
S: He’s/She’s…
T: What’s he/she?
S: He’s/She’s a student.

  PURPOSE Review the words and the sentences and prepare for the next step.
4.Say the rhyme:《At a snack bar》
  PURPOSE: Prepare for the next step.
Step2 Presentation
1. Show a snack bar, let students buy things.
  S: A pie, please.
  T: Here you are. The pie is for you.
  S: Thank you.
  …
(Student buys one thing, one thing leave. The last thing is “a gift”)
  T: What’s this?
  S…
  T: It’s a gift.
  Teach: a gift       
  (If student reads well, then say: The gift is for you.)
  PURPOSE: Teach the new word: gift.
2. Say a chant:
  Gift, gift.
  The gift is for you.
  Thank you.
  PURPOSE: Increase the students’ interest in learning English and help students to remember the word strongly.
3. Open the gift and see what’s in it.
  Oh, it’s a bell.
  Teach: a bell.
  PURPOSE: Teach the new word: bell.
(If student reads well, then say: The bell is for you.)
4. Say a chant:
  Bell, bell.
  The bell is for you.
  Thank you.
5. Enjoy the song: Jingle bells.
PURPOSE: Increase the students’ interest in learning English and help students to remember the word strongly.
6. Ask a student to read the chant. If reads well, then say: The chocolate is for you.
PURPOSE: Prepare for the next step.
7. Teach: a chocolate.
8. Say the chant.
9. Ask a student to read the rhyme, if reads well, then say: The sweet is for you.
10. Teach: a sweet, some sweets.
11. Say the chant.
12. Play a game: Bomb game.
13. Play a game: What’s missing?
PURPOSE: 1.Teach the new words.
2. Increase the students’ interest in learning English and help students to remember the word strongly.
Step3 Practice
1. Open the books and read the words.
2. Give birthday presents.
Step 4 Consolidation
1. Do workbook Exercise B Listen and judge.
2. Do workbook Exercise C Look, find and circle.
PURPOSE:Help Ss remember the words and the dialogue strongly.
Step5 Homework
1. Read the new words five times.
2. Give presents to your parents.
