1.end:

n 末尾，结尾  

① at the end of ..在…末尾

There is a bookshop ________________________________.在这条街的尽头有一家书店。

②in the end 最后，最终（不加of，过去时）= at last = finally  

They won the game_________________________. 他们最终赢得了比赛。

③ by the end of 到…末为止（完成时）

The building will have been completed ___________________________.到明年年底为止，这栋楼将完工。

v.end 结束=be over

The game ended. =The game was over. 游戏结束。

2. except  除了.....之外（不再有）

  besides除……之外（还有）

今天除了Tom之外，大家都到了。Everyone is here_________________Tom

除了这枝外，我还有另一枝蓝色钢笔。（1+1，共2枝）_________this pen, I have a blue one.

我们都通过了考试，汤姆除外。（整体中……汤姆一人不及格）We all passed the exam _________Tom.

除了春天，我还喜欢秋天。I like autumn _______________spring.

3.dead

die v. 死（短动词） His grandpa died five years ago. 他的爷爷五年前去世。

dead adj. 死的  Tom’s rabbit has been dead for a week. 汤姆的兔子死了一星期了。

dying adj.要死的  The poor man is dying. 那个穷人快要死了。

death n 死亡  The death of his dog made him sad. 他的狗死了，这使他很伤心。

他的死使得我们很难过。___________________________.

他爷爷十年前过世的。他爷爷已经过世十年了。_______________________________.

医生正在救那位垂死的老人。__________________________________________

4.How long 多长时间

1)完成时→for/since回答  (长动词)

-How long_______ you ___________here?你待在这里多久了？-Since last week./ For five days.  自从上周./ 五天了。

2)对一段时间提问（时态不限，长动词）

-How long do you exercise every day?你每天锻炼多长时间？  -For half an hour.半小时。

When：什么时候 （过去/将来）

When ______you________here？你什么时候来这的？   

When will he return from the USA？他什么时候从美国回来？

5.leave

v.1) 离开 leave-left-left  

   leave sp 离开某地  

   leave for sp 动身去某地，出发去某地  

   leave A for B 离开A地去B地  

   He will leave Beijing for Shanghai tomorrow.他明天离开北京去上海.

  我爸爸已经动身去巴黎了，他将在一周后回来。

My father _______________________Paris. He _______________________a week.
