Teaching Material Analysis:
The content of this unit is about “introducing somebody”. It’s common in the daily life. The students will learn to introduce their family members by using "This is..."
Student Analysis and teaching Approach:
The students have learnt the sentences "This is ..." "Hi, Hello, Good morning/ afternoon/ evening", so the teacher in the teaching process, can revise these old knowledge, and then lead new knowledge.
Teaching contents:
1. Enable the students to understand and use the sentence structures:
This is my uncle. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, too.
2. Enable the students to listen, read and say the words:
uncle, aunt, grandma, grandpa
3. Enable the students to understand、speak and read the letters:
Ee, Ff
4. Enable the students to say a rhyme:
I love you

Step1. Warming up
1. Greetings
T: Class begins.
S1: Stand up.
T: Good morning, boys and girls.
Ss: Good morning, Miss Shen.
T: Sit down, please.
2. Free talk:
a. T: Good morning/afternoon, what’s your name?
S1: Good morning/afternoon, my name is…
b. T: Hi/Hello, S2. How are you?
S2: I’m fine/well/good, thank you.
c. Students make greetings with each other.
Step2. Presentation
1. Look at the picture of Helen’s family.
T: Who is the man?
Ss: Helen’s dad.
T: Who is the woman?
Ss: Helen’s mum.
2. T: Now, look at this man, who is he? Please listen to me and look at my mouth. (Read ‘grandpa’ for several times.)
Ss listen and try to follow to read “‘grandpa”.
Then show the picture and the word card of ‘grandpa’.
Pay attention to the letter: “a”. Let them know the Chinese meaning.
Ask some students to read the word. Then write it on the blackboard.
Read one by one.
3. T: Look at this woman. This is Helen’s grandma. Now listen to me and look at my mouth.
Teacher reads ‘grandma’ several times. Then show the picture and the word card of ‘grandpa’.
Pay attention to the letter: “a” again. Let them know the Chinese meaning.
Ask some students to read the word. Then write it on the blackboard.
Read one by one.
4. Point to Helen’s family picture, use the same way to teach ‘uncle’ and ‘aunt’.
Let them know the Chinese meanings.
5. Teacher shows many pictures and asks students to distinguish them:
grandpa? grandma? dad? mum? uncle? aunt?
Step3. Practice
1. Practice the reading.
a. Listen to the tape, let students imitate and read the words. (Point to the words by their fingers.)
b. Read the words by themselves.
c. Choose some students to read.
d. Let students read together.
2. Look and match.
Teacher shows many pictures and asks students to match them:
grandpa
uncle
aunt
grandma
3. Play a game: What's missing?
Teacher uses the pictures of "dad", "mum", "grandpa", "grandma", "uncle", "aunt" to play this game.
To review this lesson.
4. Play a game. “One,two ,three, bomb.”
Teacher guises a bomb behide a picture, then let the students to read.
Step4. Consolidation
1. Show and say
a. Teacher makes a model, show the pictures and say like this:
T: (Take out a picture of "grandpa") This is my grandpa.
(Take out a picture of "grandma") This is my grandma.
(Take out a picture of "mum") This is my mum.
(Take out a picture of "dad") This is my dad.
(Take out a picture of "uncle") This is my uncle.
(Take out a picture of "aunt") This is my aunt.
b. Ask some students to come to the blackboard to show and say like this.
2. Act and say
a. Teacher chooses a headdress, put on it and act, then make a dialogue with a student.
eg: S1: Hello, grandma.
T: Hello, S1.
S1: How are you, grandma?
T: I'm fine, thank you.
b. Ask some students to come to the blackboard to act and say.
Try to review the knowledge they have learned and consolidate this lesson.
3. Read the words together again.

1. Listen, imitate and read the words several times.
2. Try to introduce their family members to their dad or mum.
