Step 1 Lead-in
1.        Play a game: Can you guess what’s in my box?
(Prepare a big box, put some toys in the box.)

Ask some students to touch the toy and ask questions

Take out the toy and teach “How lovely!”
T: Is it lovely?
S: Yes, it is.

2.        Show a toy. (Put a rabbit on the bookcase.)
T: What’s that in English?
T: It’s a rabbit.
(Write “rabbit” on the blackboard.)
3.        Point to a student’s toy.
T: That’s a nice … May I have a look?
(Write “have a look” on the blackboard.)

Step 2 Pre-reading
1.        Show the pictures of part A
Introduce the background knowledge of part A.
T: Look at this picture(P1). This is David and this is his mum.
Do you know who is she and where are they?
S: She is the shop assistant.
S: They are in the toy shop.
“shop assistant” means “售货员”(Give a short introduction.)
“toy shop” Read the title of this unit.

T: Can you guess what’s this?
T: This is a bear, I think.
(Write “bear” on the blackboard.)

T: Can you guess what’s that?
T: This is a lion, I think.
(Write “lion” on the blackboard.)
Step 3 While-reading
1.        Listen to the tape and answer the question.

2.        Read after the tape.
