1．        Seasons
Spring is the best season in my hometown. But summer is my favourite one. I can go swimming in summer. In autumn it’s neither too hot nor too cold. And it’s a harvest season. So I like autumn, too.

2．        Animals   
There is a big old dog in my house. The black dog is from America. Every day I carry some food to him. The dog sees me and comes up. The food is in my hand. The dog comes to me and eats the food. After that I play with him. I give some food to the dog, so the dog knows me. I like the dog and the dog likes me. We are good friends.

3．        Basketball
I play basketball almost every day. I want to be another Yao Ming when I grow up. We often play basketball against other sister schools. We often won but sometimes we were beaten. Our school team is very good.

6．        Food   
        
Now cooking in the USA is not only hamburgers, pizza and fast food. There are a lot of other things. The American fast food restaurant chains have been very successful in introducing American style fast food around the world.

Our body is like a big machine that is always working. Even when we are asleep, our heart is beating, our lungs are breathing and our brain is working. Food is the fuel that keeps all these things going. Without it, our body organs would slow down and eventually come to a stop.
Our whole body is made from good things in the food we eat. So we have to eat food to grow big and strong. Sometimes when we haven’t eaten, we feel weak. This is because our body is running out of energy.
Children who don’t get enough food will stop growing. They will become thin and weak and fall ill more easily. So you should eat regularly and healthily.

High fat food items can be found in fried food, pies, baked foods and processed meats, such as salami and sausages. Try to eat less food that is high in fat. And watch your portion. You can try all the different foods, but moderation is most important. You should go for small portions. Avoid drinking too many soft drinks, because they contain a lot of sugar.

10．        Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is China’s biggest holiday.
All the family members come home and we have a lot of nice food to eat. We celebrate it. We have fireworks at night and there is always a lot of fun for us. We children usually get red pockets.
    Days before the New Year celebration, Chinese families are busy giving their home a thorough cleaning. It is believed the cleaning sweeps away bad luck and makes the house ready for good luck to enter. All brooms and dustpans are put away on New Year’s Eve so good luck cannot be swept away.
    The Festival of the Lanterns（元宵节）begins fifteen days after Chinese New Year’s Day. It is celebrated with lantern shows and folk dances. This is when the Chinese people welcome the first full moon of the new year. A typical food is “Tang Yuan”. They are made of sweet rice rolled into balls and stuffed with the sweet fillings. The Festival of the Lanterns marks the end of the New Year’s celebration and life goes back to normal.

My father often gets up at 6:00 on weekdays. It’s very early. He must cook breakfast every morning. Then he has breakfast with us at 7:00. His factory is not near. He leaves home at 7:15 and takes a bus to go to work. He gets to his factory at 7:50 and begins to work at 8:00. He doesn’t like to be late, so he always gets there early.
    He has lunch at 12:00 in his factory. After lunch, he plays basketball with his friends. He can come at 5:00 and he often helps my mother with housework. In the evening, he sometimes watches TV, but often reads books. He goes to bed at about 9:30.

37．        Family
My family live in this street. In the morning, my father goes to work and all the children go to school. My father takes us to school every day. My mother is at home every day. She does the housework.. She always has lunch a noon, and sees her friends in the afternoon. In the evening, all the children come home from school. They always get home early. My father comes home from work and he is often late. We go to bed at ten. My father and mother usually read newspapers. On Sunday, we all watch TV.

39．        School life
       My school is very beautiful. There’re many flowers and trees in it. I like my school. I’m in a very good class. In my good class there’re fifty-seven students. I go to school at six thirty. I have eight classes every day, four in the morning and four in the afternoon.

       I like to get up late, so my ideal school starts at 9 a.m. it finishes at 3 p.m., so we will have lots of time for after-school activities.
       We have an hour for lunch. There is a big dining hall. We can eat lunch and chat there. We can also listen to pop music in the hall. We eat fruit and vegetables every day.
       We have maths every day because I think maths is very interesting. I love computers so we have computer studies every day before lunch. We wear school uniforms, but we do not wear ties. The classes are quite small. There are about fifteen students in each class.
        My ideal school has a park on one side and a shopping mall on the other. We have a big library with a lot of useful books. We also have a tennis court and a swimming pool.
        There are lots of clubs and after-school activities. We only have half an hour of home work every day and we do not do homework at weekends. Every month, we go on a school trip to a museum or a theatre.

I have breakfast at a quarter to seven a t home. Usually, I have some eggs,bread and milk. At about twelve o’clock, I have lunch at school. I have a bowl of rice,some vegetables and meat. Sometimes I have fish. In the evening, Grandpa, Dad, Mum and I have dinner at home together.

John is in Year 8 at Woodland School near London. His favourite subject is Home Economics. He likes learning how to cook.. he did not know how to do things for hinself before he came to school. Now, he knows how to cook healthy and tasty meals. His school has a reading week every year. He and his classmates love it. They can read any books from the scholl library. John loves his school very much.

51．        Travelling Around the world  
If you want to spend your holidays, I suggest you go to Hainan Island. Hainan Island is the second largest island in China. Hankou, the capital of  Hainan Province, is in the northeast of the island. It is the largest city on the island. Another beautiful city is Sanya. It is famous for “Tianya Haijiao”. That means “the edge of the sky and the rim of the sea.” In the south of the island, there is diving, fishing and boating. If relaxing is your plan, then there are long white beaches to walk along. In a word, Hainan Island is the place to be , whether it’s summer or winter!

People who like travelling have their reasons. They maintain that travelling can help them
expand their scope of knowledge, especially geographical and historical learning. They go on to
point out that touring will provide more chance for them to enjoy food and try on clothes that
they otherwise cannot possible have.
    Those who dislike travelling have their reasons. They would argue that travelling means a
considerable amount of money and energy. For example, traffic and accommodation require
money and walking while seeing sights often tires you.

In practice, travelling does more good than harm. If your finance and health permit, you
might as well do some travelling from time to time. It will at least enable you to get familiar with people and things that you will probably grow to like and love.
