Objectives:
Knowledge objects: 1. To know some popular tourist attractions around the world.
2. To use important phrases skillfully.
3. To make a dialogue by using language points.
Ability objects: 1. To develop the students’ ability of listening and speaking.
2. To describe places, experiences and feelings.
Moral objects: To love travelling.
Teaching important and difficult points: To describe places, experiences and feelings.
Teaching tools: Recorder, pictures and a small blackboard.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1. Pre-checking (15’)
T: Boys and girls. I like travelling. Last year, I visited the Great Wall. As we know, it’s a symbol of China. ( teach the word‘ symbol ’) (Give some examples)
What about you? Do you love travelling?
T: What places of interest have you been to before? Can you tell me some?
T: Good. Do you know other famous tourist attractions around the world? OK! Let’s work in groups. Please show your collecting pictures to your partners and discuss the names and countries with each other.
T: Now, please show us your results of the discussion and let’s see which group will win.
Step 2. Presentation (20’)
T: You all did a good job. But group X is the best. Congratulations! Now, Daniel and Millie are looking at the pictures of some popular tourist attractions around the world. Let’s look at them and read their names aloud. ( read twice )
T: OK! Well done! Let’s read in groups and if you have some problems, you can ask your partner.
T: Good! Let’s finish Part A as soon as possible.
T: Let’s check the answers quickly.
Step 3. Presentation
T: As you know, we all love travelling. What about Eddie and Hobo? What are they talking about? Let’s listen to a tape and do some T/F questions. ( 见学案 )
T: Good! Read after the tape and pay attention to your pronunciation. ( twice )
T: Look at the comic pictures and answer some questions. ( 见学案 )
T: Read the comic again and fill in the blanks. ( 见学案 )
T: Let’s discuss some important language points of the comic strip, then present. ( 见学案 )
Step4. Practice (10’)
T: Good job! By now, we have already learnt many useful phrases about travelling. Can you translate the following: ( 见学案 )
T: OK! Let’s read the Part B on page 25, then use it as a model to make a dialogue with your partner. You can use these phrases which we have just translated.
T: It’s time to act out your dialogues. Please try!
Sample:
A: What’s this?
B: It’s the Little Mermaid in Denmark----a symbol of Denmark.
A: Have you been there before?
B: Yes. I have been there many times and I’m going on a trip to it again.
A: What can you do there?
B: We can go swimming and hiking.
A: Can you take photos?
B: Yes, we can see many beautiful views.
A: It must be fun. Can I join you?
B: Yes, of course! Let me take you out for a few days.
A: What do we need to bring?
B: You needn’t bring anything. The travel agency will prepare everything for us.
A: Great! I think I will be so excited that I can’t sleep tonight.
