III.  A 1
1. Ask the students to read the short passage by themselves. They can use the wordlist on page 112.
2. Get the students to make the notes below the passage. They can discuss with their partners. Tell the students some of the information aren’t mentioned in the passage.
3. Check the notes.
IV.  A 2 & A3
1. Listen the tape once, check one student’s notes, then listen the second time
2. Work in pairs, ask and answer according to the notes
　　Qs: 1) What’s the player’s name?
　　   2) How old is he?
　　   3) How does he look?
　　   4) Where was he born? ( Where does he come from? )
　　   5) What team was he in? ( What team did he play for? )
　　   6) What team is he in now? ( What team does he play for now? )
　　   7) What match does he want to play in?
  3. Get the students to help Simon finish his article ( A 3 ). Ask one or two students to read the article. The n ask one student to say something about Li Guanhua without looking at the book.

　　David Beckham was born on May 2nd, 1975, in England. He is a very good football player. He is very strong. Sometimes he has a ponytail. His number is 23. He joined Manchester United after he left Royal Madrid. Last year, he scored 14 goals in 39 matches.
            
V. Speak up
Listen to the tape once with the books closed.
Ask and answer:  1) Who and who are talking?
