Unit 3 Hobbies The first period Good afternoon, everyone. I’m ***. I’m an English teacher from *** Primary School. I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. Now I’ll say The second lesson: Part B, Part C and Part F of Unit 3 in 5B of Oxford Primary School English. It is made up of four parts.
Part 1 My understanding of this lesson
1. The analysis of the teaching material:
This unit is mainly about “hobbies” it is interested to the Ss. They can make good friends with other by knowing about other’s hobbies. And the contents are familiar(熟悉)by the Ss, for they have learned many phrase about hobbies in Book 3A to Book 5A. For example, they learned many sports and instruments in unit 10 and 11 in Book 3B, unit 3 and 7 in Book 5A. The using of “like” was learned in unit 11 in Book 3B, unit 4 in Book 4A and unit 4 in Book 5A. So, reviewing the knowledge have learned seemed important in this unit, and then learn some other phrases. Connect the phrases with the structures, make the Ss can use the patterns firmly in real situation.
Refers to thegrammar( the third pron) in this unit, it is connected with unit 1, 2 and 4.It is the further learning of unit 1 and 2 , and it is also the preparation for unit 4. So it takes an important role in learning.
2. The analysis of the students
The students have learned some similar knowledge about hobbies, such as Unit 10 Do you like in book 3B, Unit 4 Halloween in book 5A. In fact they have had many information about hobbies, but they don’t have the ability to exchange their idea, for they are too shy to speak English, they are afraid to make mistakes.
3. Teaching aims:
A. Knowledge aims: Enable the Ss listen, read, speak and write the phrases correctly in this unit.
B. Ability aims: Enable the Ss use the structures in real situation.
C. Emotional aims: Make the Ss want to make friends with others, and learn from each other
4. Key points / Teaching important points:
The Ss can use the phrases: make model ships, collect stamps, collect coins, grow flowers, keep goldfish, make clothes. Teaching difficult points:
The Ss can use the patterns: Do you have any hobbies? Yes, I do. I like…… He/She likes…,too. No, I don’t. in daily life.
Part 2 My teaching theories, methods and aids
Before dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director; Combine the language structures with the language functions; So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a survey to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I will arrange four kinds of activities: singing, guessing game, finishing a survey and having a competition.

Part 3. Teaching steps / procedures
Step 1 Warm up and Free talk A. Warm up Enjoy the song: “Hobbies” B. Free talk: 1. Do you like swimming/running/jogging/…? 2. Can you play…? 3. What can you do? 4. What do you like? (This step is to form a better situation for the students by singing and speaking . They will come into the real surrounding of English learning, and it can also review the learnt knowledge for the next step. )
