In the past 4 weeks,I took part in a training course organized by Bureau of Education and Purdue University. During the 4 weeks, I got all-around training and experienced a lot I never had but had been dreaming of. I gained a lot.
The first was the teaching theory, approaches and methods of learning. Most of us lack such kind of study. Maybe some methods have already been applied in our class, but we didn’t know the name, when and where it came from and how to integrate it into our teaching. In the first 2 weeks of classes, we learned a lot about that. To make us more familiar with the approach, we did another 2 weeks teaching by ourselves. Lesson plans in pair provided us opportunity to put the theory into practice. Our teacher always gave us some detailed comments after each class. And reflections after each class also proved that what we learned definitely would be a great help to us.
Secondly, we all improved our English. Because of our fixed working environment and heavy pressure, we hardly have time to get all-around English training. This training course created a rare opportunity for us. As we’re in the English only class, we communicated in English. We watched films and wrote reflections and comments in English. Gradually, our English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills became stronger.
Thirdly, we made a lot of new friends and colleagues as well. Though each class is composed of teachers of different age and from different schools, it didn’t make any problem on our communication. Oppositely, we enjoyed the time getting together. We discussed and shared ideas on the same points. We cooperated to solve the problems. We listened and participated in others’ classes. We not only brought each other a class mixed different teaching approaches, but also some wonderful ideas and passion for teaching.
Till the end of the training, we're all not willing to say goodbye to each other as we've built deep relationship with foreign teachers and classmates. It would be one of the most memorable moments in our life. |
