i don't think it's suitable to grade students of english when they are still in primary school.

We have taught English for some years, but we never taught about this topic, I think, as an English teacher, we must talk about it. So welcome to show your opinion.

I've taught english in a primary school for nearly nine years.
The students are often seen to wrongly write Chinese characters and english teachers are too eager to push students hard to get good marks.
English should be taught later when they have grown old enough. Furthermore, english should be learned not be taught or marked.
One of my students got 97 in a monthly test. his parents, howerer, seemed not satisfied with such a result. They thought he should have got more, like 99.
It's a pity for that students as well as these great many primary school english learners.
But how to change such a miserable situation?

I think, it is suitable for children to study in the primary school. But we must change our evaluation.
We must think about this question 'Why do we learnEnglish? ' For the mark? Of course not. Learning English is for exchange. So, I think, the children can use English to exchange with others, that's OK.
I know, this is a miserable situation, we can change nothing. But as an English teacher, we must try our best to do something, however that's negligible.

Why do Europeans learn another language as a child?
They have great many chances to communicate with those from different countries,as they are close to each other in geographical term.
China, now, is a fast-developing country. Some small cities, like my hometown, is still a back one, as not so many foreigners can be seen over here.
Children of towns can talk with each other better in Chinese rather than in English.
Much more, they'll still have few chances to talk with foreigners when they get to work.
Why not learn Chinese better?

I can't agree with you.
I think learning English as a child is better than as an adult.
First, the children are quite plastic. If they learn English now, they can speak English purely.
Second, learning English is not only for these days, it is also for the children's future. Why do we study? Only for these days? I think everyone will say 'No'. So if we don't teach the children today, help them prepare for the future, when they need it , then learning? It's too late.

You got a point.
All the students shouldn't learn english at an early age.
Some may never use english during their lifetime.
What's the point for him to learn English?

Who said that? Why?
We study much more about Maths. Do we use all of them? Of course, we study many subjects, Do we use all of them?

Why they must learn Chinese  and  Maths in  the primary  school , not English? And then, the children don't only learn Chinese and Maths, but also Music, Art, Science , PE and so on. The problem is we didn't give all the subjects the same time, That's not right.

Yeah, you got a point. Not enough time is given to each subject.
