Step 1 Free talk and motivation
T: Hello, class. Welcome back to school.
Q1: Did you have a good winter holiday?
Q2: What did you do at Spring Festival?
Step 2 Presentation
1. T: Hello,XX. How old are you? (S1&S2 answer)
T: S1 is 12 years old. S2 is 13 years old.
So S1 is younger than S2. Who is younger?
Ss: S1 is …
T: Good. Today we’ll learn -----(Unit 1 Who’s younger?)
(Ss read the title for several times.)
2.( Teach the words “young,younger, old, older” and structures “Who’s younger/older, A or B? A/B is ….than A/B.”)
T: Ok. Listen carefully. A is ten years old. B is twelve years old. They are young. C is 60 years old. D is 70 years old. They’re old.
(板书 A 10 B 12 C 60 D 70)
T:(Teach “old”and “young”并板书 )
Ss:( Guess the meaning of young and follow the teacher.)
T: Now.Please tell me. Who is younger, A or B?
S1&S2:A is younger than B.
T: Good. (Teach “younger”更年轻的 and “than”比。。) (板书younger, Who is younger, A or B? A is younger than B.)
Ss: (1)Read the words and sentences. (2) Pair work

T: A and B stand up,please.

Ss: My father is.
5.Using the same way to teach the other words.
Pay attention to the change of the words.

Step 3 Summary of the comparison
1. Ss think about the formation and the change of the comparison.
2. T summarizes the grammar.
比较级的结构:比较级+than e.g I am younger than my sister.
形容词比较级的规则变化
1. 单音节词末尾加er tall-taller small-smaller
2.单音节次如果以-e结尾,只加-r brave-braver
3.闭音节词如末尾只有一个辅音字母,须双写这个字母,再加-er
Big- bigger thin-thinner
3. 少数以y结尾的词,如果y前是辅音字母,则变y为i,再加er. heavy-heavier
