I. 单词:
1. holiday 假日；节日
on holiday / spend one’s holiday  在度假

2. last 最后的；临终的

3. farm ①农场（名词）

II. 词组
1. pull up carrots 拔胡萝卜
pull up 拉出；把……向上拔，（使）停下；阻止
例句：The driver pulled up at the gate. 司机在门口停车。
2. water flowers 浇花
water作为名词讲是“水”的意思，作为动词讲是“浇水”的意思。
例句：I need some water to wash clothes. 我需要一些水去洗衣服。
     My mother waters the flowers every day. 我妈妈每天浇花。
3.National Day 国庆日
national 民族的；国家的； 全国性的
a national newspaper 全国性的报纸
a national university   国立大学
例句：October 1st is the National Day of China.
十月一日是中国的国庆节。
4. show sb. sth. / show sth. to sb. 向某人展示某物
例句：Liu Tao’s father showed some stamps to us yesterday.

      刘涛的爸爸昨天向我们展示了一些邮票。

               A Frenchman in New York
    One day, a Frenchman goes to New York. He lives in a hotel. He knows little English. It is Sunday. So he decides to go out for a walk. He writes down the name of the street in his notebook. When he wants to go back, he asks a young man and an old man for help, but they don’t know what he wants. Finally , he stops a sailor. The sailor knows some Frenchman find the way. When the sailor reads the words on the notebook, he laughs. Because it says: One Way Street.
