3AUnit3 This is my father(A)
Good morning, everyone!
Today, I’ll say something about Unit 3 Part A in Book 3 of Oxford English.
Background on the reformation of curriculum, this book can connect the life and act, emphasize the interest and experience of the Ss, the pictures are active and vivid. Grade three is the initial stage of English learning, so it stresses on the emotion of the Ss, creates a well beginning for the Ss. This Unit has 4 parts, we’ll learn Part A mainly, it embodies the repeating characterize. Review the learned language points “This is …”and the new language points will be represented in this unit. .
The content of this period is to use “This is …” to introduce family members. And according to the contents and the fact of the Ss, I establish the following three teaching aims of this period:
The first one: students can listen, read, say the words of family members: father,mother, brother, sister.
The second one: students can use the sentence “This is …” to introduce the family members.
The third one: students can know three new characters. “Mr Black, Mrs Black, Gao Shan .”
I think the most difficult point of this period is to make sure the students can use the sentence “This is …” to introduce the family members in their daily life correctly.
And I will use some pictures, words and sentence cards, a tape recorder and the multi-media computer to help me achieve the aims.
The task-based method, communicated method, group cooperate method will be used in this period.
To accomplish the aims, I design the following steps:
Step 1 Songs arousers the emotion.
In order to attract the Ss’ attention and construct an atmosphere of learning English, I let the students sing the song <Hi !Nancy!>of Unit2 , and introduce Nancy by using the sentence “This is...”. Then change the song by using the characters "David, LiuTao, Yang Ling, Mike ,Miss Li, Mr Green, Wang Bing, Helen", these 8 characters have been learnt in Unit1 and Unit2 .And then introduce the people. same time the game can review the prep, serve the knowledge as foil and consist the appearance of the knowledge.
Step 2 Teach some new words .
The substance of language is communication and the environment of communication is life. So when I present the new words “father,mother, brother, sister” I first show a photo of my family to elicit the family members. Then I use the new words" father, mother, brother, sister " and the sentence pattern "This is..." to make a chant. " Father, father , my father, this is my father; mother, mother, my mother, this is my mother...While Ss chant are chanting ,they can add some actions and clap the hands following the suitable rhyme. Then ask Ss to make a chant by themselves by using "brother, sister' In this way I can attract Ss’ attention, cultivate Ss' ability in learning knowledge .
Step3 Presentation and Practice
Most of the Ss have got to know the T's family members .So I design a Q: Do you want to know David and Nancy 's father and mother ?I give Ss 2Qs : Who is David and Nancy 's father ?Who is David and Nancy 's mother? Let Ss to watch the cartoon of picture 1and 2. and answer the Qs. Then teach 2 new characters "Mr Black , Mrs Black" When we introduce father or mother to others , they should say "Nice to meet you ; Good morning ; Good afternoon." Then Listern and repeat picture1 and 2 after the tape. And next I design 2 Qs :" Who is Helen's brother ? Who is David's sister? Let Ss go on watching the cartoon of picture 3and 4. And answer the questions.Then teach new character "Wang Bing" . At last listen and repeat picture 3and 4 after the tape.
Step 4 Consolidation
As the new reformation of curriculum, emphasized the traditional class attach importance to the mechanical teaching, neglect the experience and participation, for example, the five-step method. So in this lesson, after presentation, I ask Ss to listen to the tape , read in different roles and in pairs, then try to retell the text and act it.
Then I show a carton with no voice, ask Ss to make a dialogue in pairs.
There are lots of ways to consolidate the new knowledge. Acting is a good way. So according to the physiology of Ss, I hold a group competition during the acting ,. This can develop Ss’ good habits and achieve the aim of mastering the learned knowledge in situation.
Step 5 Change class to life, learn by themselves .
Is this the end of the class? I don’t think so. If there is an end, I think it should be in the life. So I extend this class, let Ss take our the family photo and introduce family members to the classmates .Make dialogues in groups This can encourage Ss to use the learned to communicate with each other in their life.
In a word, the whole period is based on tasks, which are designed from easy steps to steps that are challenging. When the Ss are solving out the tasks, they can acquire information, knowledge, and have their ability and skills trained.
