A letter to a penfriend. Part B Look ,read and leard.

[Class time] 35 minutes

[Teaching objectives]
Language functions : 1.The students can understand, speak, read and write the following new words: glue.
                   2.The students can understand, speak and read the following new words: a postcard, an e-mail, a fax machine, a telephone number, writing paper, an envelope.

Skills: 1.Raise the pupils' interest to write in English.
2.Encourage the pupils to have good cooperation with each other, help each other and learn from each other. Encourage the pupils to use language for communication in real life.

[Teaching  key points]
New words: an envelope, a fax machine.

[Teaching difficult points]
The pronunciation of the word: envelope.

[Teaching aids]
1.Multi-media.
2.Cassettee & tape recorder.
3.Cards.
[Teaching process]
Step 1 Warming up exercises
Sing a song: Will you join me?
Step2 Greetings
Step3 Presentation
1.        Present the new lesson.
T: Today I’m very happy because I received a letter from my penfriend. (T writes the title of Unit 7 on the Bb. )
2.        Present the new words.
2.1 T presents the new words of e-mail and a fax machine, a telephone number with the Multi-media.
2.2 T presents the new words of writing paper, an envelope, postcard, glue with real objects.  
Step 4 Practise
1. Play a game High and low voice.
2.        Play the multi-media. Ask the pupils to watch the flash cartoon, and then try to catch the voice.
3. Read after the tape.
4.Play a Bingo game.

Step 5. Production
1.        Communication activity
Divide the whole class into several groups. Let the students make dialogues in their group with the new words.
A: Can I have…?
B: Sure. Here you are.
2. Further activity
  A guessing game.
T: Liu Tao’s mother is now in Guangzhou. Liu Tao is in Nanjing. He wants to speak to his mother. I can help him. What am I?
S: You’re a …?
Step 6 Ending
At 1ast,enjoy a song“old MacDonald Had a Farm”C1ass is over.

[Homework Assignment ]
1.        Listen to the tape.
2.        Make up some riddles with the new words.
3.        Prepare for Part C.
