第3讲 名 词
一、名词复数规则
1.一般情况下,直接加-s,如:book-books, bag-bags, cat-cats, bed-beds
2、以ce,se,ze,(d)ge等结尾的词 加-s orange-oranges
3.以s. x. sh. ch结尾,加-es,如:bus-buses, box-boxes, brush-brushes,
watch-watches
4、以“辅音字母 y”结尾,变y为i, 再加-es,如:family-families,
strawberry-strawberries
5、以“f或fe”结尾,变f或fe为v, 再加-es,如:knife-knives leaf——leaves
6、不规则名词复数:
man-men, woman-women, policeman-policemen, policewoman-policewomen,
child-children foot-feet,. tooth-teeth
fish-fish, people-people, Chinese-Chinese, Japanese-Japanese
注: 对可数名词的数量提问时通常用how many ,后跟可数名词的复数形式。对不可数名词的数量提问通常用how much ,后跟不可数名词。
例如:(1)你有多少条狗?
(2)你们班有多少男生?
(3)你喝了多少水?
(4)袋子里有多少米?
备考资料:
有许多东西在汉语中是可数的,在英语中却是不可数,如news,bread,advic(意见)等,这时如果要表示“一个”这类的概念,就要加“a piece of”这类定语。
如: 一条新闻 一条意见
一张纸 一块巧克力
一杯水 一副眼镜
名词所有格
名词所有格是名词中表示所有关系的形式。所有格的构成有两种形式:一是由名词加's构成,通常用来表示有生命的东西;二是由of加名词构成,通常表示无生命的东西。
1、如:丽丽的课桌
刘涛是张老师的学生
以-s结尾的复数名词的所有格只在名词后加'。
如:双胞胎的卧室。
这些老师叫什么名字?
如果一样物品被两个或两个以上的人拥有,只在后一个名词的后面加’s就构成名词所有格;如果不是共有的,就要在两个名词后面都加上's.
如:刘涛和张扬(共有)的卧室
玛丽和杨玲(各自)的书包
of词组的用法
如:这张桌子的四条腿
Family、class等是集体名词,表示家族、班级的整体时,谓语动词用单数。表示家族、班级中的成员时,谓语动词用复数。
